October 2016 Stamps of the Month - Vampire Stamps

Halloween is just around the corner.  Jillian O'Diorne create a cute vampire for Texana Designs stamps this year.  It comes in two sizes and a coordinating sentiment.  This makes great Halloween cards, treat holders, etc.

Candy Card by Megan Bickers

Supplies Used:

Texana Designs Stamps: Vampire (Large), I Vant a Bite of Candy
Recollections: Black Cardstock
Georgia Pacific: White Cardstock
Unknown: Pattern Paper scraps
Tsukineko: Memento Inkpad (Tuxedo Black)
Letraset: Promarkers (Tan, Crimson, Cool Grey 3, Cool Grey 5, Black)
Dum Dum lollipops
Craft Knife

I cut two slits along the lines of the Vampire's hand to hold the lollipop and slipped the stick in between the two slits. This would also make a cute candy bag topper.

Vampire Candy Holder by Jilda Bolton

Supplies:

Stamps: Mini vampire, I vant a Bite of Candy!
Paper: Vampire Bat paper Doodlebug Haunted Manor 3512 going batty, Black cardstock for trim
Fiskars 2468 border punch
Two Velcro Thin Clear Fasteners #91614
Wink of Stella pens: Clear, silver, black and purple

Cut vampire bat paper: 4-1/4” X 4-1/2”
Candy covers: 1” X 3-/4”

Color and cut the mini vampire
Score vampire bat paper on the long side at 1-1/4”, 2-1/2”, 3-3/4”
Fold at score lines and attach the punched border to the front edge
Add the mini vampire with a pop dot and attach the sentiment

The candy holder will hold 3 Hershey Nuggets candies.  Wrap the candy covers around the candy and secure the candies to the bottom of the holder with some sticky tape.  User the clear fasteners to close the candy holder.

Coffin Card by Janet Bradshaw

Supplies:

Texana Designs Stamps
Vampire, Treat Bag and “I vant a Bite of Candy”
Wiggle Eyes
Wobbles
Foam Tape
PrismaColor Pencils
Gamsol
Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens
Woodgrain background stamp
VersaMark Ink

I sketched out a coffin shape sized for the large vampire and able to fit in an A2 envelope.  Next I folded a piece of black cardstock and put the mat on top with the lower left side of the coffin along the fold.  I drew out the card leaving a 1/8" border around the mat.  The mat was stamped with a woodgrain background stamp before adhering to the card base.  The vampire was colored and attached to the card with a wobble action spring and wiggle eyes.

Treat Bag by Jilda Bolton

Jilda Bolton's Supply List:

Texana Design “Vampire”
Texana Design “I vant a Bite of Candy”
Lawn Fawn Goodie Bag Die #LF771
12” X 12” Bazzill Bling Tiara cardstock #4652302120
12” X 12” Doodlebug design 3514 Going Batty #4271503514, cut into 1” X 3-1/2” pieces

Wink of Stella – Silver, red, and black pens
Black Scrapbook Adhesives 3D foam squares/regular-3
Velcro 3/8” Thin Clear Fastener
6 Hershey’s Nuggets candies

I cut the goodie bag out of the Bling Tiara cardstock (12” X 12” paper is enough for two bags) and assembled it using double sided tape.  Lawn Fawn’s on-line instructions are very easy to follow.  I colored the vampire and cut him out to pop on the bag with the foam squares.  I wrapped the Going Batty strips around the candy and fastened them with the 1/8” tape. The Velcro fastener will close the bag with the candy inside for delivery to your lucky friends.

Cards by Janet Bradshaw
 Janet Bradshaw's Supply List:

Scarecrow, Crow, Haybale, Pumpkin Trio (mini) and “A Thankful Heart is a Happy Heart”
Paper Pieced scarecrow and pumpkins using Colorways Paper Pads

I tried dimensionals for the hat and buttons.  I tried Stickles and I tried Dovecraft 3D Enamel Effects.  They didn't wow the card as much as I hoped.

I stamped the pumpkin trio (mini) and then masked it off before stamping the hay bale before piecing the pumpkins and adding a pop dot under the center pumpkin.

Card & Tag by Janet
I also made samples using Distress Collage Medium - Vinatge.

Janet's Summer of Creative Chemistry with lots of fun new techniques with Tim Holtz created lots of opportunity to showcase some of the new fall stamps.

And Janet made store samples using new stamps.
I guess we know where Jillian gets her love of Halloween!

Texana Designs Water Color Stamps & Samples

The August 2016 release of stamps from Texana Designs includes some of the older stamps miniaturized and some new designs by Karen Lambert.  By using watercolor markers and watercolor paper these stamps take creativity to a new level.

Below are several samples by Jimmye Sue Mitchell using the new stamps.

Janet created the following cards and tag using the existing Texana stamps.  Many of the stamps work great as the containers and props.  Many of the mini flowers can be used in part to create the floral arrangement.

August 2016 Stamps of the Month - Beach Scenes

Updated 8/15/16 to add more samples

Sea grass can be so much more.  How about prairie grass?

Karen Lambert's Supply list
TD stamps.  Fence, Sea Grass, Bluebonnet Trio
Zig Clean Color Markers
Water Color Paint Brush
Bristol Paper

Karen Lambert's Beach Scene

This was a make n take that Karen designed.  It featured various forms of masking and resist.  A white crayon was used as a resist on the birds before the background was colored.  Post-It Notes were used to mask the sailboat.

Jimmye Sue Mitchell's Sample

Kaleidacolor Blue Breeze
Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol
Wink of Stella Pens Green and Gold
White Prismacolor Pencil  on Birds

Megan Bickers' Driftwood, shells, seagulls cards
Texana Designs Stamps: Driftwood, Mini Shells, Seagulls
Georgia Pacific: White Cardstock
DMD Inc: Kraft Cardstock
Crate Paper: Acorn Avenue (Peanut Deli Pattern paper)
Tsukineko: Memento Inkpad (Tuxedo Black)
Letraset: Promarkers (Cinnamon, Tan, Cappuccino, Sandstone, Cool Grey 1,
Cool Grey 2, Cool Grey 4, Blue Grey 3, Grey Squirrel)

I tore the edge of the blue watercolor pattern paper to make it look like
ocean whitecaps on waves. I stamped the driftwood on white cardstock, then
colored tan markers below it for a beach sand look. The mini seashells and
the seagulls were stamped, colored with alcohol markers, and fussy cut
before adding to the card.  The sentiment was stamped either directly on the
blue pattern paper (if the torn piece was wide enough for the full
sentiment) or stamped on white cardstock and cut to customize/shorten the
sentiment so it would fit.

Megan Bickers' Dolphin Spinner Card

Texana Designs stamps: Dolphin, Seagrass
Georgia Pacific: White Cardstock
Crate Paper: Acorn Avenue (Peanut Deli Pattern Paper- Blue watercolor design)
TPC Studio/ANW Crestwood: Black D-Stress Pattern Paper (Grey)
Tsukineko: Memento Inkpad (Tuxedo Black)
EK Success: Punches (1” Circle, Word Window Punch)
Pentel: Aquash Waterbrush
Ranger: Distress Inkpads (Faded Jeans, Weathered Wood)
Akashiya Sai: Watercolor Markers (Green, Brown)
3M Foam Tape
2 Pennies

I stamped the dolphins on white cardstock, colored them with alcohol markers, and fussy cut them. I used three dolphins for each card. The white circle the dolphins are glued to was a white piece of cardstock that was punched into a circle shape, then watercolored with distress markers to match the watercolored pattern paper. I used the Watercolor Brush markers to ink up the seagrass stamp (brown and green) and stamped it directly on the watercolored pattern paper twice without reinking the stamp (this gives it a faded, dimensional look).  To create the spinner aspect of the card, I lined up the word window punch in the center of the card, then moved it to the right and left to create a larger channel for the spinner to rotate in.  I adhered one penny to the back of the dolphin circle, then sandwiched the other penny to it with a piece of fun foam (cut in a rounded shape). The spinner part just tucks into the channel and will spin as you tilt the card right and left.

Janet Bradshaw's Pop Up Card Front

For this pop up card I created a sunset scene by painting the sun, then stamping the grass and cranes in black ink for a silhouette.  The gulls were cut out and adhered to the image.

Janet created this tag in Creative Chemistry 103 using the Marker Spritzing Technique.

July 2016 Stamp of the Month - Sailboat, Dolphins & Seagulls

The newest release of Texana Designs is a great summer and beach theme.  Karen Lambert designed most of this set of stamps.  She has done a fabulous job.

Below are some samples using the sailboat, dolphins, seagulls and sentiments.  Next month we'll be showing you the beach stamp samples.

Two great samples from Jilda Bolton!
"We all love this new Sailboat Stamp – thank you Karen Lambert!"

Card #1 – Yellow boat
The background is a Hero Arts background stamp called Waves Background BG.
I colored it with Copics BG32 AND BG45.

I paper pieced the sailboat with the yellow back of the blue chevron paper I used on the
second card.  It was in a 6X6 paper pack called Feels Like Home by Little Yellow
Bicycle #FLH-304.  I cut a slit in the waves and tucked the sailboat in and glued it down
before I taped the background onto the yellow cardstock.  Then I added the sentiment Seas
the day.

Card #2 – Blue boat
When I saw this 12X12 paper called Let’s Be Mermaids/Catch the Wave #LBM11005 by
Echo Park, I knew it would be a perfect background for the new sailboat stamp.

I paper pieced the sailboat with the blue chevron paper from a 6X6 paper pack called
Feels Like Home by Little Yellow Bicycle #FLH-304 and popped in onto the Catch the
Wave background.  Then I added the sentiment Seas the day.

These cards were so much fun to make!

Below are samples from the artist herself, Karen Lambert:

Brushless Watercolor Technique

Wrinkle-Free Distress Technique

And two samples from Megan Bickers:

Supplies Used:  (Turquoise/Green card)
Texana Designs Stamps: Sailboat, Take time for a little Vitamin Sea
Georgia Pacific: White Cardstock
DMD Inc: Kraft Cardstock
Basic Grey: Blush Pattern Paper
Tsukineko: Kaleidacolor Inkpad (Caribbean Sea); Versamark Inkpad (Clear)
Ranger: Distress Inkpads (Gathered Twigs, Twisted Citron); Foam Blending
Tool
Recollections: Baker's Twine (Tan)
3M Foam Tape
Pentel Waterbrush

I stamped the sailboat with the kaleidacolor inkpad, then used my waterbrush
to blend out the colors. I stamped the kaleidacolor and brown inkpads
directly to a laminated piece of cardstock and used those as pallets to add
extra watercolor to my project. With the leftover ink on the laminated
cardstock, I added some more water to individual sections of color and
flicked it off onto my stamped image to add some water splatter.  The
sentiment was stamped below the sailboat and I wrapped some twine around the
card base. The main image was mounted to the card with foam tape.

Supplies Used:  (Navy card)
Texana Designs Stamps: Sailboat, Seas the day
Bee Paper: Watercolor paper
Bazzill: Navy Cardstock (Stormy Dark)
Momenta: Travel Pattern Paper
Tsukineko:  Versafine Inkpad (Onyx Black)
Akashiya Sai: Watercolor markers (Red, Brown, Blue)
Pentel Waterbrush

I stamped the sailboat with the watercolor markers, then used the water
brush to blend out the colors from the stamped image. I also scribbled the
markers on a clear block, and used the waterbrush to pick up the color to
add a little extra color where needed.  Then I took the left over scribbled
watercolor and added more water to it, and flicked it off the edge of the
clear block with the waterbrush to add the splatter to my card. The edge of
the pattern paper was torn to mimic the whitecaps of the waves.
