Texana Designs Blog Hop

 Today is the DAY!!!!  We are so excited to introduce you to Texana Designs first ever Blog Hop.

One Card Sketch, Seven Artists, and a chance for someone to win all 7 designs presented today.

Below is the sketch we all started with.  No instructions were given other than to interpret it by creating a card using it as your inspiration.  Each designer created a beautifully unique card showing their talents and style.

First we introduce our Leader, JimmyeSue Mitchell's card.  JimmyeSue used one of our new stamps that will be released next week.  She colored her beautiful Tulip with Copics Markers

Next we present Joyce Meyer's Card.  She is not only our Stamp Artist but affectionately know as the Cuttlebug Queen.  She created her background using her Cuttlebug.  Notice that the Oval is not embossed.  Perhaps someday she will create a tutorial for us all showing how she did it.  (No Pressure, Joyce.  LOL)

Texana Designs Blog Hop - COMING SOON

The Texana Designs Design Team is hosting our first ever Blog Hop on March 1, 2014

The Design Team Members, the Artist and the Owner have created a card front using a sketch created by DTM Karen Lambert and Texana Designs Stamps.  One basic sketch and seven unique and beautiful creations appear.

When the Blog Hop goes live, YOU (our fans and followers), will be able to see the creations by following links posted on each Blog and Facebook Page.  Visit each website and leave a comment.  We will do a random drawing from names of all visitors that comment on every page. The drawing will be March 8th and the winner will receive all of the card fronts created by for this first Blog Hop.

Texana Designs Team Picture

We were able to all meet in one place despite freezing weather and icy roads.  DTM Libby Hickson, who lives in Georgia was in Texas for just a short period of time and we were all thrilled to be able to spend time with her in person.  Usually she joins us via Google Hangouts and my webcam and TV connection.

When "Icepocolypse 2014" hit Central TX and everything began to shut down we were disappointed that we might not be able to make it happen.  But we fooled Mother Nature.  We were determined!  And we were all in one place at one time.

We did some great brainstorming and have some surprises in store or out loyal followers/customers for 2014.  Stay tuned in the next month to see what we come up with.  :)

Stacker Technique:

Fill in letters of HAPPY with Stickles

Using TODAY, cut away the “T” and discard

“O” is used at the top and “DAY” is used at the bottom

TODAY is stamped twice, brown on bottom for the shadow and O & DAY are pop dotted on top

“anniversary” is stamped in the background and

“Oh Happy Day!” at the top right and bottom left

Trim HAPPY wide around each letter
Color letters with Pumice Stone marker
Color around the heart with same marker
Stagger the letters

Owl Valentines's card #2

Supplies Used:
Texana Designs Stamps: Owl (Large),  Whoo Loves You…I do!, Banner
Georgia Pacific: White Cardstock
Basic Grey: Blush 6x6 paper pad
Tsukineko: Memento Inkpad (Tuxedo Black)
Ranger: Distress Inkpad (Walnut Stain); Foam Blender Tool
Letraset: Promarkers (Sandstone, Cocoa, Pear Green, Rose Pink, Oasis, Ginger)
Sakura: White GellyRoll Pen

Techniques Used:
Cut sentiment apart into several lines so I could curve the saying to mimic the curved lines of the banner stamp.
Stamped one owl, then masked it to stamp second one behind the front one. Colored with promarkers.
Drew patterns on the owl bellies with white gel pen before coloring with markers. The gel pen resisted the marker.

Paper pieced and used markers to color main owl. Used small owl to create a background on white cardstock.
Pick & Omit technique-only inked parts of two sentiments to create the word “wh-owl” to be a play on words for the word “whole”.

Techniques Used:
Colored Wolf and Banner images with promarkers.
Used a black marker to add some handwritten words as part of each sentiment. Only stamped parts of each sentiment for both cards.
